More about Beecholme

Beecholme is also the first postwar "mixed development" housing scheme in Hackney, with a mixture of houses and flats with the taller block having five storeys and containing one-bedroom and bedsit accommodation. It is featured in Volume 15 of Hackney History and was the site of Beecholme House, the family home of Maj. John André (d. 1780), who was executed as a British spy in the American War of Independence.

Important Lwr Clapton Rd public planning meeting

..at B6 College on Tue 24th April 2012
at 7.30pm.

This is a Hackney Council consultation on a
"planning guidance document" focusing on the cinema and surrounds.

The meeting will, however, also provide the opportunity to set out our "vision" for the general area around Clapton Pond

 and highlight any specific issues

I believe there has been a long standing general acknowledgement and wish by local groups and businesses, supported by councillors, that Lower Clapton Road be treated as a distinct "centre" and the area be made more pedestrian friendly and attractive to visitors and businesses.
A series of improvements are likely to be suggested, from street furniture, frontages and signage to longer term visions for the roundabout and traffic flow.

This opportunity to have your say on the future of Lower Clapton Road and the area around Clapton Pond is one you don't want to miss.
